What more is there to say? The OP is playing the fine Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival this Sunday, Aug 21st. Come out and partake of the lake, the artists, the shops, the music. We’ll be on the Main Stage at Morse and Greenview, playing at 4 pm.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the Six Corners BBQ Fest! The OP had a nice thrill that day when none other than Alejo Poveda jumped up on stage to join us for a few tunes. Check out the video on youtube.
On Friday, April 15, The Opposition Party & Soulphonetics take over Morseland in Rogers Park! Great beer selection, tasty kitchen treats, and live afrofunkdubjazz.
It was great to hear Trombone Shorty on the latest edition of American Routes! Lookin forward to opening for him & his band Orleans Avenue on April 4 at Lincoln Hall!
UPDATE: Due to a gigantic blizzard, this show has been postponed to Monday, April 4. See the Lincoln Hall website for more information.
On Groundhog Day, February 2, the OP opens for Grammy-nominated New Orleans trombone prodigy Trombone Shorty in a sold-out show at beautiful Lincoln Hall! We’re opening with one set at 8 pm sharp, so get there early to avoid the snow plows and catch some vibes. Then stick around for one of the best horn players in the country!
The last weekend of January features two chances to catch the Opposition Party: on Thursday the 27th, the we return to steam up the funky windows at The Whistler, for two sets of afrobeat and reggae percolation.
Then, on Saturday the 29th, members of the OP join DJ friends Soulphonetics at the Butterfly Social Club for an impromptu live jam while they spin world soul beats (view the flyer).
The best part: both shows have no cover!
[UPDATE]: The Opposition Party is excited to add a show on February 2 opening for 2010 Grammy nominee and New Orleans Trombone ambassador Trombone Shorty at Lincoln Hall!
On Friday, December 10th, The Opposition Party will pair up with Chicago’s own Ifficial Reggae Movement to bring some warm vibes to the chilly south loop at Reggie’s Music Joint. Soulphonetics DJ duo will kick the night off and spin their brand of world soul between sets.
