Thanks to all the folks who came out to Martyrs and The Whistler in May, especially you booty shakers at The Whistler, you know who you are! The OP is going on hiatus in June so our keyboard player can complete a procreating that was started almost 9 months ago, but we’ll be back in July and August, with these dates, add em to your calendars:

July 12 – Reggies Music Joint w/ Emefe
July 19 – Chicago Summerdance!
July 27 – Morseland
August 18 – Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest
August 29 – Lakeview Summer Stage

What more is there to say? The OP is playing the fine Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival this Sunday, Aug 21st. Come out and partake of the lake, the artists, the shops, the music. We’ll be on the Main Stage at Morse and Greenview, playing at 4 pm.

World Music Fest Five-Fecta

The Chicago World Music Festival 2010 schedule is out and The Opposition Party is looking forward to our show on September 28 as part of the Devon’s Diversity on Division showcase, brought to you by Global Groove and the World Music Festival.

We’ll be appearing at the Chopin Theatre alongside Ragawave, Tum Balalaika, Eyes Manouche, and Magic Carpet. Five bands of local international flavor in one night!

Global Groove Summer

June 2nd, 2010

The OP are pleased to announce two upcoming gigs pairing with Global Groove Chicago. The first is a showcase at the Chopin Theater on Saturday July 10, and the second is at the same venue in September, lining up with the Chicago World Music Festival.

The opening act for the July 10 gig is to be announced, with the Oppositon Party headlining. Doors at 9 pm.
